The Swiss Room

The second floor houses The Swiss Room – both a celebration of Iwan and Manuela Wirth’s nationality and Switzerland’s rich history and design. This elegant room houses an entrance hall and spacious dining room seating 14 people.

A hand-crafted European Oak floor, separately stained by artisan Ian Harper, resembles a watercolour by Davos-born artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943), whilst artworks include paintings by Ferdinand Hodler.

The Italian Rooms

Adjoining the Swiss Room are the Italian Room & Bar. Resplendent in Venetian design, and inspired by Palazzo interiors, the floors and centrepiece bar feature Italian Verde Api green marble and artwork be De Chirico.

The Italian Rooms comprise of a private dining room for up to 10 guests and a separate bar with lounge seating that can be booked for pre or post dinner drinks.

The Scottish Room

The Scottish Room is inspired by the history of the Highlands and sister property the Fife Arms. Located on the third floor the building, there is a dramatic antler chandelier, designed by Laplace and created by Gareth Guy of the McLean Horn Shop in Braemar, which sits above a hand-carved 9-metre Scottish oak table featuring 38 unique Jacobite crocketts in memory of the Glen Cloe Massacre of 1692. This bespoke table, hand-carved chairs and glass-fronted cabinet were all crafted by joinery artisan Kelvin Murray at Character Joinery. Waver and designer Araminta Campbell has created an exclusive custom tartan in three colourways using pigments from natural plant dyes, a highly valued ancient skill.

This is the largest of the curious rooms, with seating up to 26 guests.

The Games Room

Located on the fourth floor, The Games Room is a clandestine enclave with a bar, card table and lounge seating. An homage to Louise Bourgeois (American – born France, 1911-2010) takes the form of a rug designed by Laplace in association with Jerry Gorovoy, Bourgeois’s long-time assistant, remaining faithful to her signature style. Hand painted directly onto the circular ceiling of the iconic Audley turret, is an artist intervention by Anj Smith reinterpreting tentacle erotica.
